I use this for my books. I have a lot of hard back books so I needed something sturdyBox arrived without damage. Parts all intact but heavy. Took piece by piece upstairs to put together. Enhances the room and storage for books and pamphlets. The book shelf was a pain to put together, but do not let that deter you from it. It was a pain to put together because of how sturdy it was designed. Make sure you put it together where you want it because its big enough it would be a pain to put somewhere else once built. The backing tacks down with several dozen finishing nails, so you can't easily take it apart for transportation. Its very heavy to move on it's own as well. I sure feel bad for the delivery guy that hauled it up to our front porch all by himself.Only dissatisfying part of it is that the backing is rather cheap like you find on most bookshelves, and it didn't appear to be cut straight, so we had to tack it on at a bit of an angle. I really wish companies would start making these so they could be disassembled during a move. The bookcase itself is heavy and study but there are a couple of things I don’t like. The top shelf does not fit flush with the sides. There is a gap and it looks unfinished. I also do not like the cheap backing they use for the back. It unfolds and you nail it to the back on the bookcase. I have built other furniture that uses the same type of backing but this one just looks cheap. The grooves from where the backing was folded just take away from the looks.I will give Bush credit for their customer service. My bookcase came from Amazon damaged. I called the 800 number for Bush and gave them the model number and the part numbers of the damaged parts and they shipped me the replacement parts. Excellent service.Overall it is an OK bookcase but if I had to do it over I would not buy again. This bookcase is great quality - the shelves are very strong and the unit is sturdy. It is a little flimsy on the backboard with a ton of tiny nails, but that was the "hardest" part of the assembly and unless the sun is shining on it just right, you can't tell that it was folded in three sections. The packaging, however, is a different story. The first unit I received had damage on every piece of the assembly except for one. Bush was fantastic when I called them to find out what I needed to do. They ended up replacing the entire assembly. The second unit had 2 pieces of the assembly that were damaged, albeit not as bad as the first go around. By this time, I was tired of waiting to put together my new bookcase, so I just colored in the one or two spots that were damaged with a Sharpie.Assembly was a breeze. Very heavy bookcase, opened box and transported parts (sealed box way to heavy for a senior to manage alone). Took an hour to 1:5 to assemble. Placed felt pads on bottom and sliding over hardwood floors a breeze. It’s a large bookcase. Exactly what I needed. It took a couple of hours to assemble, maybe less (2 people.) I filled it right up with books and kitchen/dining room supplies. Very sturdy and should be anchored to the wall for safety purposes. I love it.For the price this is the best Bookshelf Unit I have even seen. Was easy to put together. Looks heavy duty. After about a year I noticed a couple of shelves look swayed in the middle . I took a closer look and I did have a heavy book in the middle so I just switched things around and put heavy books close to the edges. Yeah there are plenty better out there, but not for my budget. I would like to get more of them and replace other cheaper looking ones I have. I have had this set up since November of 2012
